SolTrim International is Sri Lanka’s leading label manufacturer, providing numerous services such as printed labels, heat transfer, offset tags, woven labels, stickers, TPU labels, screen printed labels and variable data labels.

By producing labels for recognised brands, SolTrim has become a recognised name in the labelling industry both locally and globally. With environmental sustainability being at the forefront of the company, a comprehensive audit was done of carbon, waste and water to identify emissions sources and reduce its impact on the environment

The CCC Team carried out a detailed carbon, water and waste audit of the company’s operations, and presented a comprehensive report detailing the carbon footprint, and waste and water balance, highlighting key areas of inefficiency and providing suggested solutions for reduction methods.

After completion of the detailed process in order to quantify the emissions released, SoltTrim International became Asia's First CarbonNeutral® Label Manufacturer. The company also obtained a WaterConscious® and WasteConscious® Certification.

Outcomes

The team recommended the company switching from generator powered electricity, to grid electricity and the total emission savings were 22%.

The company switched 87% of their bulbs to LEDs, which amounted to a total of 31,785Kwh saved.

A digital water monitoring system was suggested by the team to record data with more efficiency, which would increase the monitoring capacity and reduce leakages in the future. The total washroom water consumption reduced by 9%. SolTrim also introduced new printing machinery and printing techniques that enhance the efficiency of the printing process as recommended by the team to reduce waste and increase efficiency in the production process.
